President-Elect Vows to Create Independent IG Offices
In an unprecedented speech re-released this past month, President-Elect Trump, in his 10-point reform plan, promised to remove all Inspectors General from the organizations they are tasked to investigate so as to remove the seething conflicts of interest which exist in today’s structure.

President-Elect Trump’s commitment to “make every inspector general office independent and physically separated from the departments they oversee” (see 1:45 – 1:57) is a bold stand against the entrenched failures of the Department of Defense Inspector General and its larger Inspector General enterprise. For too long, these offices have failed their mission—squandering millions in taxpayer dollars, betraying whistleblowers, and weakening trust in the DoD. These failures undermine readiness, put American service members at risk, and worsen the military’s mental health crisis.
In response to Trump’s call for reform, we urge him to act decisively on this draft Executive Order establishing a truly independent Inspector General for the DoD. This is an exhortation—demanding integrity, protecting our troops, and restoring strength to the heart of America’s defense.
